Hayward’s Safari Sanctuary
BOBBEJAANSBERG PRIVATE NATURE RESERVE
The Dinokeng Region (Place of Rivers), located in the Gauteng Province of South Africa, is the acclaimed headquarters of the Hayward’s Grand Safari Event & Expedition Company and is set in the Bobbejaansberg Private Nature Reserve within the famed Boekenhoutskloof, approximately 24 km north East of Pretoria.
This 2’500 acre private game reserve comprises of rolling sedimentary hills and savannah valleys, boasts well over 200 bird species, a vast indigenous boekenhout & African Syringa forests habitated by various antelope and buck species with recorded sightings of leopard, brown hyena and caracal. Guests will also encounter baboons, vervet monkeys, and even rare and elusive species such as pangolin, civet, genet and aardvark whilst on walks. Easy access by helicopter or shuttle bus transfers can be arranged.
Hayward’s is an ideal reserve for walking, hiking, mountain biking, guided game drives, hot air ballooning, 4×4 trails and as a base from which to set off each day on an exploration of the rural villages within the region including Cullinan, home of the world’s biggest diamond ever found. Due to its close proximity to the cities of Tshwane and Johannesburg, events are more cost effective when run from here. At the Sanctuary, amazing gala events, weddings, launches and private dinner parties are offered under 1920’s safari style expedition canvass. Accommodation of 70 tented en suite bedrooms and dining seating up to 160 guests.
Activities and facilities include: Opera at The Oasis, professional body therapists at The Spice House Safari Spa, Conferences at The Indaba Tent and a large choice of camp activities, from hot air ballooning, clay pigeon shooting, fishing, archery and horse trails, to guided game drives and walks, all on 2500 acres of prime African bushveld.
The reserve is teeming with wildlife and is really a treat for those groups wishing to get the feel of a real expedition-based safari, without the long distances and bigger budget spends wasted on long distance travel.
