NORTH WEST CAPE PROVINCE South Africa
A Private Game reserve situated in the Kalahari, the Northern Cape Province of South Africa, covers 1000km2 (100 000 ha) of wilderness on the edge of the Kalahari. The reserve boasts 70 species of mammal including lion, cheetah, desert rhino, sable and roan antelope and meerkat. There are also more than 200 bird species. Guided walks meander across silent red dunes. Drives in open-sided safari vehicles traverse the Kalahari wilderness and stop at the most scenic spots to allow visitors to enjoy an impressive sunset or splendid bush dinner. Bird-watching, star-gazing and exciting visits to the habituated meerkat dens of the reserve are just some of the activities on offer. Optional horseback trails, enable guests to experience close encounters with wildlife. Guests have the opportunity of visiting archaeological sites and viewing rock engravings in and around the reserve. Special-interest courses in archaeology, ethno-botany and photography are arranged.
