Louis Dreyfus Executive Weekend

Friday, 9 February 2007

“An exclusive South African experience fit for a King.”

The executives from Louis Dreyfus Commodities started off their adventure weekend at the luxurious Hayward Tented Camp situated in the Pilanesburg Nature Reserve. They spent two nights here and enjoyed game drives, hot air balloon rides, guided bush hikes, a colonial styled evening and dinner around the campfire with traditional campfire stories.

Some guests were treated to an interaction session with elephants, which was followed by a leisurely ride on the animals into the game reserve.

After dinner, the executives were treated to a riveting address by Quinton Coetzee – ‘Wildside Wisdom – Hunt or be Hunted’ in a relaxing environment enjoyed with cigars and cognacs.

At Mziki Game Reserve, a select group tracked and then participated in the placing of a microchip into a rhinoceros’s horn as part of an ongoing initiative to counteract poaching. Three rhinos were ‘captured’ and chipped, and one fortunate group got to conduct tests on a pregnant female, ensuring everything was in order with the unborn calf.

On the Sunday they were all transferred to The Palace of the Lost City at Sun City where they all enjoyed an afternoon filled with various activities ranging from water sports to golf to relaxing treatments at the Gary Player Country Club.

Others spent a leisurely afternoon relaxing by the pool whilst the more adventurous experienced the adrenalin rush of riding quad bikes.

In the evening the guests met for pre-dinner drinks at The Palace Pool Deck after which followed a spectacular dinner at the Baobab Outlook. Entertainment was provided by the renowned Gloria Bosman and her 6 piece band.

On Monday morning a breakfast fit for a King rounded off the successful weekend before guests were transferred back to the Airport.

“I have finally returned to Memphis and would like to tell you what an excellent job I felt you did. I know it wasn’t easy “putting up” with 120 of us but you were always cheerful, up-beat, and most of all as accommodating as possible. The safari was a wonderful experience and one that will always be one of my fondest travel memories. The animals and scenery were spectacular and once I adjusted to the loss of all vanity the experience was incredible. Thanks again for all of your efforts.
