The Hayward’s headquarters and safari academy is situated just 75km from the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, and just 23km north east of Pretoria in the Bobbejaansberg Private Nature Reserve, better known as Hayward’s Safari Sanctuary. This exclusive-use private reserve is set in the Boekenhoutskloofmountains and is home to a large variety of African animal species. No hunting of animals is permitted at this 2 500 acre sanctuary.
To reduce costs of the unique ‘Mobile Expedition Hotel’ concept, prospective clients have the option of hosting their event at this venue.
But Hayward’s true colours shine most brightly when the team mobilises over 350 tons of equipment, packs it into 26 8-ton trucks and heads off to their destination in a 4km convoy. Out of the African savannah, a magnificent 100-bedroom tented camp hotel with all the frills, glitz and glamour appears within three days.
Budgets are determined on a per-event basis and depend entirely on the exclusivity and scope of the event, the number of days on safari and, of course, distance the expediting team needs to travel to set up camp. Safari Expeditions are never one-night affairs – three to five day excursions offer our guests an unrivalled opportunity to experience our hospitality and the African bush in style. Because of the nature and exclusivity of the experience, Hayward’s Grand Tented Safaris are typically a once-in-a-lifetime experience and cannot be compared to a more typical hotel stay.
